dotdark.gif (287 byte) ABOUT REZORK

REZORK (REturn of ZORK) is my tribute to the Zork fantasy world ... what is it??? Well, the Jargon dictionary says:

Zork /zork/ n.

The second of the great early experiments in computer fantasy gaming; see ADVENT. Originally written on MIT-DM during 1977-1979, later distributed with BSD Unix (as a patched, sourceless RT-11 FORTRAN binary; see retrocomputing) and commercialized as `The Zork Trilogy' by Infocom. The FORTRAN source was later rewritten for portability and released to Usenet under the name "Dungeon". Both FORTRAN "Dungeon" and translated C versions are available at many FTP sites. See also grue.

Go to the documentation page, if you want to learn more about it and read it carefully if you don't know what a "text adventure game" is.

Activision Studios owns and maintains full copyrights on Zork I, Zork II and Zork III games.

As part of the release of Z0RK NEMES1S Activision released Zork I for free on their website. Coinciding with the release of Z0RK GRAND INQUISIT0R, the first of a new series of Zork adventures, Activision released Zork II and Zork III as well as a new Zork text adventure called Zork: The Undiscovered Underground by Marc Blank and Mike Berlyn.
